Fast 800 Diet is only suitable for those with a smaller amount of weight to lose (up to 10 pounds) and for those who don’t have an insatiable appetite. If you have more weight to lose or struggle with portion control, this very restrictive diet may not be for you. Let’s get started!
If you’ve always been afraid of diets because you’re not sure you can stick to it or are worried about feeling hungry, then this diet is for you.
The Fast 800 Diet was created by the famous British doctor and nutritionist, Michael Mosley, who has helped many people through his other diet plans and nutrition advice.
One of the best things about this diet is that it combines different methods that Michael Mosley is known for and it’s not monotonous. Plus, it only lasts 4 weeks and during that time, you could lose more than 10 pounds!
What is the Fast 800 Diet?
The diet consists of three phases. The first phase might seem a bit difficult because there are some restrictions, but the other two phases are relatively simple and you should have no trouble following them.
In the first phase, which lasts 2 weeks, you can expect to lose 5 pounds and potentially even more by the end of the diet. Those unwanted pounds will disappear and your figure will be in great shape.
Phase I – 800 calories a day
During the first phase, you need to consume a maximum of 800 calories a day for 2 weeks. This might seem challenging and restrictive, but the good news is that you don’t have to give up your favorite foods or eliminate entire food groups from your diet. You can eat anything you want, as long as you stay within the 800 calorie limit.
It’s important to note that it’s always recommended to eat healthy and balanced, even if you’re allowed to eat anything you want. If you consume healthy and nutritious food, you’ll be able to eat more variety and won’t have to worry about hitting the 800 calorie limit. On the other hand, if you eat unhealthy food, snacks, sweets, and juice, you’ll reach the limit in no time.
During this time, a process of moderate ketosis should occur in your body. This process is similar, but not the same as following a ketogenic diet.
Phase II – The 5:2 Principle
After 2 weeks, the Fast 800 Diet becomes much easier and requires you to still consume 800 calories a day, but only on two days of the week. If you’ve made it this far, it should be easy for you to eat fewer calories in just two days.
For the other 5 days, it’s important not to overeat and to make sure you have a balanced diet full of nutritious food. Also, make sure not to have overly large portions, so you don’t shock your body and undo all your progress.
During this 2-week period, focus on protein- and fiber-rich foods. Avoid processed foods, refined sugar, snacks, and sweets, and include as much fruit and vegetables as possible, as well as whole grains.
This way of eating will not only help you maintain your weight and get rid of extra pounds, but it will also benefit your body.
Mediterranean Feast: The Final Stage of Fast 800 Diet
One of the most popular diets is definitely the Mediterranean diet, as it’s easy to follow, packed with nutritious food, and most importantly, it offers a diverse, interesting, and delicious range of meals.
The last phase of the Fast 800 Diet is transitioning to the Mediterranean diet. Make sure you don’t overdo it with carbs and portion sizes, and focus on healthy food choices like lean fish, olive oil, nuts, whole grains, low-fat dairy products, eggs, and of course, fruits and vegetables.
The previous two phases lasted for 2 weeks each, while the final phase has no time limit. Given that the Mediterranean diet is one of the best and healthiest diets on the planet, we highly recommend sticking to it for as long as you like.
